Yesterday (Monday) I visited Ofcom's monitoring station at Baldock. It was a fascinating afternoon, and many thanks to Ofcom for allowing the Cambridge University Wireless Society to invade! It was impressive to see them take DF bearings on an 'A' beacon on 40m while we were there, having also helped trace an off-frequency Chinese broadcast in the 17m amateur band that morning. Particularly amazing were their unattended monitoring stations which they can dial up and listen to in the heart of most major UK cities.
