Snowdonia Summits

This coming weekend (17th/18th June) I'll be in Snowdonia with Michael G7VJR and Martin G3ZAY. We'll be using our own calls (portable in Wales, of course) and aim to climb Tryfan (915m/3002ft) which is the 8-point summit GW/NW-006 for Summits on the Air

A wonderful day on Saturday when Mike G7VJR and I climbed Tryfan and activated Summits on the Air NW-006. I made 14 QSOs from the summit, on both 14MHz and 144MHZ. Sunday saw much worse weather for our planned entry in the 50MHz contests, so we decided not to enter but rather just give out points. We operated from a position at approximately SH698615 and I made 27 QSOs using Mike's FT-847 and 60W to a dipole. The entire operation lasted less than an hour, however, as the wind was blowing and we were getting soaked in the rain. Pictures from both days are on Flickr
