Review of the Year 2010

What I did in amateur radio during 2010

Summary

I concluded my review of 2009, noting that I would be starting a new job in May 2010, and that my resulting proximity to the Cambridge University Wireless Society should help to ensure that I would be more active in 2010. Sadly, this was not to be the case for much of the year, as I only completed my PhD in the autumn, but in the final months of the year I was able to be more involved in the hobby again.

My PhD also meant that I could not go on any DXpeditions during the year, but I was able to coordinate what looks like a very successful entry in the CQ WW DX SSB contest at M4A in October.

Despite my lack of activity generally, I was able to get four new countries during the year: Senegal, Mongolia, Cambodia and Kermadic Island.

Looking forward to 2011, we are already making plans for several contest entries and DXpeditions, so I am quite excited about getting back on-air again.

Between 01-01-2010 and 31-12-2010, I made 51 QSOs to 14 DXCC entities (countries).
