All-time new DXCCs for me this year were EZ (Turkmenistan - EZ4Y), FO/C (Clipperton Island - TX5C) and TR (Gabon - TR8CW)
Month-by-month
- February - Operation in the ARRL DX CW contest as M0BLF from home, making 159 QSOs.
- March - Operation in the RDXC contest as M0BLF from G6UW, making 337 QSOs.
- April - My planned operation with G3ZAY from Californian IOTAs as W6/M0BLF was cancelled.
- May - Helped at the Dartmoor Radio Rally and took part in the radio club's Ten Tors Field Day.
- June - Launched my /qsos/ service into beta. Assisted in the communications for the Dartmoor Discovery Ultra-Marathon.
- July - A problematic operation in the IARU contest as M0BLF from home, making 285 QSOs, and an abandoned operation in the IOTA contest.
- August - DXpedition with G3ZAY and M0SCH to operate as TF/M0BLF from Grimsey and Heimaey islands, Iceland.
- October - A very busy month! Attended the RSGB HF Convention, where I gave a talk on the integration of Ham Radio and Web 2.0. Helped Dartmoor Radio Club run a Jamboree on the Air station for West Devon Scouts. Operation in the CQ WW DX SSB contest as part of the M4A Multi-Single entry, making 3135 QSOs.
- November - Operation in the CQ WW DX CW contest as M0BLF from home, making 200 QSOs. I was also awarded the DXCC 150 Phone and 200 Mixed endorsements.
- December - Working with West Devon Scouts to encourage the Scouts who had been interested at JOTA. Nine of them are due to take Foundation Licence exams in January.
2009 should see me finish my PhD and then find a job. This will probably involve moving to a new location, so I might not be on air as much in the coming year. Hopefully, though, the new sunspot cycle will pick up and so conditions should be better when I am on!
